API’s spelen in de ogen van velen een cruciale rol in Shell’s digitale strategie. API’s zouden de efficiëntie, controle en flexibiliteit vergroten van Shell’s digitale strategie, waardoor het bedrijf beter kan inspelen op de behoeften van hun klanten en de energietransitie kunnen versnellen. Maar wat als u dit op een enorme schaal doet? Shell is afhankelijk van een goedwerkend, schaalbaar en veilig digitaal landschap waarbij een hoge mate van AIML, automatisering, robotisering en het snel inpassen van digitale oplossingen kenmerken zijn om klanten te helpen sneller te decarbiniseren. Helpen APIs daar echt bij? En zo ja, hoe wordt er dan voor gezorgd dat dit op een juiste manier gebeurt? Ergo, hoe wordt ervoor gezorgd dat Shell ‘Change by Design’ doet?

Na het volgen van deze sessie weet u:

• Dat API’s alleen niet de oplossing zijn, maar dat er altijd een grotere context is.
• Dat voor elke digitale oplossing er eerst een heldere waardecreatie noodzakelijk is.

Ruim 3 jaar geleden is er bij Bovemij (60 jaar geleden opgericht door de BOVAG, voor verzekeringen, bankieren en data diensten) gestart met het opstellen van een nieuwe IT-platform strategie inclusief opbouw van een nieuw integratie platform. De afgelopen 3 jaar is er keihard gewerkt om deze strategie te implementeren. Tijdens deze presentatie zal Arjan van Hienen, Domain Architect Integration bij Bovemij, uitleggen waarom de strategie is opgesteld en hoe de implementatie de afgelopen jaren gelopen is. Successen, uitdagingen, huidige stand van zaken en plannen voor de (nabije) toekomst komen aan bod.

• Hoe u API’s creëert voor applicaties/databronnen die niet out of the box een API aanbieden en hoe u API’s combineert (orkestratie).
• Hoe u het hergebruik van APIs stimuleert.

ANWB has been working on their API landscape for nearly a decade, with dozens of development teams. Initially that meant giving teams full freedom to create APIs as they wanted.
But times have changed. The digital world hasn’t gotten any safer, and with the push to cloud, serverless, and ever shorter cycle times, it was time for the next step.
So, the past two years, ANWB has moved to a new API management platform.

Martijn Stellinga is a solution architect working in the integration team at ANWB. Deepak Grewal is a technical consultant at Kong. In this session, they will discuss what ANWB is trying to achieve, and how Kong is a good fit to realize those ambitions.

In order to make digital transformation work, organizations need to organize their IT optimally. This requires combining concepts such as agile, DevOps, team topologies and platform engineering with technology developments around cloud, security and data. Integration is a crucial component in combining these concepts and technologies. Especially APIs, when deployed properly. Last year, Rabobank has completely rebuilt its API Management Platform according to this combined philosophy, migrated from their old platform to the new platform within a year and completely decommissioned its old platform. The new API Management platform is fully automated and self-service oriented, decreasing cognitive load for ~800 DevOps teams in Rabobank. It follows Rabobank’s multi-cloud strategy and connects, via custom automations, various components besides the core micro API gateways per team. Via extentions of the Open API Specifications, Rabobank governs adherence to guardrails and standards in close cooperation with the internal API community within Rabobank.
