Sinds het gebruik van de oude versie van de Stint niet langer is toegestaan, werkt men aan een nieuw ontwerp. Dit dient te voldoen aan de eisen uit de Verordening voor twee- en<!--more--> driewielige voertuigen. Daar komt bij dat de Europese Commissie onlangs heeft aangegeven dat voertuigen zoals de Stint als machines moeten worden beschouwd. In een expertsessie gaan Marieke Coumans, advocaat CE-markering en Edwin Renzen, uitvinder van de Stint en Managing Partner van Stint Urban Mobility in op de gevolgen voor het ontwerpproces.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Break-outsessie<br \/>\nDe Stint: een voertuig onder de machinerichtlijn(?)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sinds oktober 2018 is het gebruik van een Stint in Nederland niet langer toegestaan, althans niet de oude versie. De Minister heeft in de Tweede Kamer aangegeven dat het beleidskader dat bestond voor de toelating van dit soort voertuigen niet toereikend was. Er is gewerkt aan een nieuw beleidskader, waarbij de focus (uitdrukkelijk) gelegd werd op de eisen uit de Verordening voor twee- en driewielige voertuigen. Op basis daarvan is gestart met de aanpassing van het oorspronkelijke ontwerp, wat uiteindelijk neerkwam op een vrijwel nieuw ontwerp voor de Stint &#8211; de 2019 versie. De Europese Commissie heeft in de zomer van 2019 aangegeven dat voertuigen als de Stint naar haar mening als machines zouden moeten worden beschouwd.
