Whitepaper: Zero Trust and Enterprise Data Backup

At a time when 93% of cyberattacks target backup data, it is evident that traditional security models are no longer sufficient to protect one of the most critical components of the IT estate: backup and recovery systems. While Zero Trust has become a widely adopted security strategy, a significant gap remains — existing Zero Trust frameworks provide little to no guidance on data backup and recovery.

The whitepaper “Zero Trust and Enterprise Data Backup” addresses this gap by introducing Zero Trust Data Resilience (ZTDR) — an extension of the CISA Zero Trust Maturity Model (ZTMM), developed in collaboration with Veeam and Zero Trust expert Jason Garbis of Numberline Security.

This new framework equips organisations with a clear set of principles, architectural guidance and best practices to secure backup environments against ransomware, data exfiltration and insider threats — strengthening resilience where it matters most.
