Dutch Cloud Conference Programma

In the spot: A Federated Enterprise Cloud Operating Model bij NN Group

NN Group’s cloud journey starts in 2015 with dual public cloud strategy and a goal to decommission the on-premise datacenter within 2 years. Quickly the company discovered that its approach would fail due to lacking experience, skills and copying on-premises practices to the public cloud. Since then, NN has shifted its approach towards a more decentralized one whereas individual business DevOps teams targeted specific business value by leveraging public cloud technology.

 Since then, the adoption of public cloud at NN Group skyrocketed and now the organization is facing new challenges to remain in control and to reduce cognitive load for developers. During this session, Remon van Gijn and Thomas Buiks will elaborate on some of NN Group’s learning throughout its journey and will illustrate their latest cloud operating model iteration. Mid-level operating structures in the form of local Cloud Centers of Excellence are introduced that help balance the freedom to innovate while staying in control and help reduce cognitive load for developers by enabling them with re-usable products and services. By doing so, NN has created a federated enterprise cloud operating model which allows the company to unlock additional business value on the public cloud in an effective and efficient way.
