Darren Thomson

During his 30+ years in the software industry, Darren has worked in a variety of technical and field leadership positions and currently serves as Commvault’s CTO in the field, supporting the EMEA and India regions. Prior to this Darren worked at CyberCube (a data and analytics provider), leading their Cyber Intelligence Unit and helping to define solution propositions and go-to market strategy as the company helped to shape the global cyber insurance industry through work with Lloyds of London, Munich Re: and other influential insurance players. Darren served as the Field-CTO at Symantec in EMEA for several years where he was responsible for a team of around 200 technicians and operated as a technical evangelist in the domains of Cloud, IOT, Risk Management and Security Strategy. He fulfilled a similar brief at VERITAS Software prior to this. Darren is a published author, his latest full book being “Delivery Utility Computing: Business Driven IT Optimization”. He was educated in Hertfordshire, UK and holds a Certificate of Higher Education (Cert HE) in Social Science as well as several I.T. related qualifications including ITIL Practitioner and Management of Risk (“MoR”) accreditations from the UK Office of Government Commerce. Darren’s interest and research into the intersections of traditional psychology, criminal and the modern cyber defence give him unique perspectives into how we should be defending our organisations and institutions from cyber threat in the 21st century.
