CHAIRMAN OF THE CONFERENCE

Erik is actively involved in a range of professional roles and projects. He is the founder of TrustCore.EU, Topic Leader ITSE-S2 “Security Practices” at the Solvay Brussels School, and Security Advisor & Architect at BNP Paribas Fortis – Global Security. In addition, he serves as an advisor to the Flemish Government on Trust, eID, eSig, eSeal, and Blockchain, and contributes to ENISA as an expert and project manager on (Qualified) Trust Services and related guidelines. In January 2015, after leaving a Big4 firm, Erik established TrustCore.EU, combining its development with the above-mentioned roles. He brings extensive expertise in areas such as Governance, Risk & Compliance, eGovernment, eBusiness, eBanking, Trust Services, and Trusted/Trustworthy (eco)systems. His skills also cover Enterprise (Security) Architectures, Service-Oriented Architectures, Cloud Platforms, and Information & Cyber Security Management. Erik’s engagements span both the public sector (including the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal ICT Department (Fedict), the Flemish eGov & ICT agency, DG Connect, DG Employment, DG RTD, EC-ISA) and the private sector (including NBB, ING, KBC, Electrabel Suez, Infrabel, De Lijn, BPost, Euroclear). His achievements include co-authoring the blueprint of the Belgian Personal Identity Card Project (BelPIC) and playing a key role in developing several eGovernment-supporting services for the Flemish Government, such as trust services for e-identification, e-authentication, authorization, e-signing, and stamping. Currently, Erik’s main focus areas are Enterprise (Security) Architecture, the implementation and impact of the eIDAS Regulation, and the upcoming Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2).

TrustCore is an organisation which is set up to assist government organisations, financial services institutions and other enterprises as a truly trusted and independent advisor to handle the challenges and take the opportunities of the digital age, especially in realising trusted environments and eco-systems.
