IT & Software Asset Management: the CIOs perspective
Danielle Jacobs, CEO, Beltug
Based on daily interactions with CIOs and ICT decision-makers, Beltug will highlight key concerns and strategies for organizations to better manage IT and Software Asset Management (SAM), helping to prevent inefficiencies.
With the increasing acquisition of SaaS products, many companies struggle to manage decentralized purchases made by various teams, which leads to complexities in licensing and contract management. Furthermore, the rise of cloud services has introduced critical questions around data governance and security. Businesses must now ensure that their data is both secure and compliant with regulations, while addressing concerns about data ownership and accessibility.
A significant regulatory development in this area is the Data Act. Companies need to fully grasp its implications for cloud contracts, data protection, and the broader regulatory environment to safeguard their interests.
Another major issue is the power imbalance between cloud providers and business customers. Many organizations feel constrained by unfavourable contract terms that disproportionately benefit the service providers. This imbalance makes it critical for businesses to advocate for more equitable agreements and improved support from software vendors. International cooperation plays a crucial role in this process.
