Paul Simons is a Belgian expert in digital transformation within the accounting and tax sector. He has over 40 years of experience in software development, strategy, and digital innovation, primarily focused on SMEs and accountants.
Paul currently serves as the Peppol Post-Award Community Leader, where he leads international collaboration on electronic invoicing and document exchange. In addition, he is the Convenor of the CEN/TC434 working group for the European core invoice model (EN16931-1).
Peppol
Peppol is an open, secure, and standardized framework enabling seamless electronic exchange of business documents (such as e invoices and purchase orders) across borders. Governed by OpenPeppol, a Belgian non profit AISBL, it uses a four corner model allowing organizations to connect via any accredited Service Provider. Launched as an EU funded pilot in 2008 and managed by OpenPeppol since 2012. Peppol supports both B2B and B2G exchanges globally, promoting interoperability, efficiency, and competition in digital trade.
